There is an old saying that "geography is the eldest daughter of history". (I know, I've never met anyone who's actually ever said it, but, you know, someone said it.) In order to comprehend and learn from the events of the past, it is important to consider when and where they occurred. For these reasons, history and geography go hand-in-hand.
